What we keep
Last changed 30 July 2026.
revu reads reviews. It does not store them. That distinction is the whole of this page.
Read, used, discarded
During a daily pass we receive whatever Etsy gives us about a review: its rating, the listing it belongs to, the date, the text the buyer wrote, a photo if they added one, and a buyer id.
- The buyer id is dropped immediately, before anything else happens to the record.
- The text of a poor review is put into the email we send you, and then it is gone. It is never written down here.
- The photo is not fetched, shown, or stored.
- The rating and date are used to work out an average and a departure date, and then those two results are kept — not the reviews they came from.
There is no reviews table in this database. That is a stronger promise than remembering not to write to one.
The complete list of what is stored
- Your email address, from signing in with Google. It is all the sign-in returns.
- Which shops you watch — Etsy's numeric id, the name, and the link.
- Two averages and two counts per shop: the current pair Etsy publishes and the previous pair, so we can tell you what moved.
- One tally: how many reviews we counted in the window and their total, plus whether that agreed with Etsy.
- One date: when the next review ages out, its rating, and the average it leaves behind. The next one, not a schedule.
- Two bookmarks: how far through the reviews we have read, and what we last emailed about, so the same news is not sent twice.
Deliberately absent
- No rating history. Each pass overwrites the last. There is no series and no way to build a chart of anyone's reputation over time.
- No Etsy account connection. revu never asks you to authorise it against Etsy, so it holds no token and has no route to anything private.
- No analytics, no third-party scripts, no advertising, no tracking cookies. The site serves no JavaScript at all — there is nothing here that could follow anyone.
Cookies
One, holding a signed session id so the site knows the panels are yours. HttpOnly,
SameSite=Lax, Secure. Signing out deletes it.
Who else sees any of it
Google, at the moment you sign in, because you chose to sign in with them. The provider that carries an email. Cloudflare, which runs the site and the database. Nobody else. Nothing is sold or shared, and there are no advertisers to share it with.
Other people's shops
A shop's rating is public. So is the fact that you are looking at one: nothing here tells a shop owner they are being watched, and nothing here shows you anything a shopper could not see on their shop page.
Erasing it
Account → Close and erase. Immediate, no confirmation email, no waiting period, no retained copy — the address and every watched shop go in one transaction. Or write to support@revuapp.uk and it will be done for you.
